Facemasks on public transport will no longer be mandatory from 7th February
Minister for Health, Carolina Darias, has announced that face coverings will no longer be mandatory on public transport from next week.
In a statement issued on Friday, Ms. Darias said that cabinet was due to approve plans she would be submitting in the coming days to bring an end to the mandotroy use of masks whilst on busses, trains, boats and aircraft.
Whilst rules are to be relaxed on public transport, restrictions on mask wearing will remain in medical settings such as doctors and pharmacies.
Regional health ministers are due to meet shortly to approve the change in rules ahead of Government rubberstamping the changes to the law.
