Policía Nacional Discovers New Narcotunnel Near Gibraltar Border

Policía Nacional has discovered a new narcotunnel near the border with Gibraltar, the second such tunnel found in the area in recent months.

Officers say the passage was being used to move drugs between warehouses on the Spanish side and coastal points used by smuggling groups.

The tunnel contained lighting, ventilation and reinforced walls, and investigators believe it was operated by a criminal organisation linked to hashish trafficking.

Several suspects are under investigation, and police say the find highlights the increasing sophistication of smuggling networks in the Campo de Gibraltar region.
