Irishman extradited to Dublin to face murder charges
An Irishman who was detained on the Costa del Sol last month has arrived back in Ireland after his extradition appeal failed earlier this week.
Gerard Hutch was flown from an air base in Madrid, arriving yesteday evening at Baldonel air base in the Irish capital, where he was arrested before being taken to court to be charged with the gangland murder of David Byrne over five-and-a-half years ago.
Mr Hutch lost two appeals against his extradition, telling the national court that there were threats against his life. However a judge ruled he should return to Spain to serve any custodial sentence due to him being a resident.
