Tram passenger numbers drop in July

The number of people using the local tram between Denia and Benidorm fell by 3% in July.

The figures however come as no surprise to operator FGV, as part of the network was closed for works and modernisation.

However the operator is facing criticism, after it emerged that the bus takes less time to run its route between Calpe and Denia than the train. However the operator says that local geography makes the route of the line longer, and the curves on the track mean trains have to run slower.
