Columbian President holds state visit in Spain

Colombian President Gustavo Petro has begun a state visit to Spain, in an effort to secure a peace plan for the country.

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia greeted Petro and his wife in Madrid, where they attended a state dinner hosted by the King and Queen.

However the President was snubbed by far-right party Vox when he addressed the Congress of Deputies.

They walked out in protest at comments made regarding Columbia’s independence over 200 years ago, labelling the President an “unrepentant terrorist”.
