Spain registers hottest spring on record

Meterological agency AEMET has confirmed that Spain has registered it’s hottest spring since records began.

The average temperature was “14.2 degrees Celsius, which was 1.8C hotter” than normal, the agency said in a press statement issued yesterday. The average temperature exceeded the previous record year of 1997 by 0.3c.

In April parts of the country were 20c above average temperatures due to an early heatwave.

Scientists at World Weather Attribution – who study climate change and weather events – said the current temperatures were “exceptional”.
