Sánchez convenes National Security Council meeting as Ceuta crisis continues

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez chaired an extraordinary meeting of the National Security Council today (Tuesday), as the government seeks to address the continuing crisis in Ceuta.

The meeting comes almost a month after the mass arrival of migrants from Morocco at the end of July.

The President of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas, is expected to participate remotely, alongside the ministers for the Interior, Defence and Foreign Affairs, the head of the CNI and other senior security officials.

The government says the meeting will assess the situation and coordinate the measures needed to respond to the ongoing crisis.
