Pedro Sánchez to address Congress on Ceuta migration crisis after 70,000 arrivals
Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez will appear before Congress on 3 September to explain the government’s handling of the migration crisis in Ceuta.
The announcement comes after weeks of political pressure over the mass arrival of more than 70,000 migrants from Morocco on 30 and 31 July.

Around 5,000 are still in the autonomous city, according to the government.
The crisis has also exposed disagreements within the government over what intelligence and security services knew before the arrivals.
Defence Minister Margarita Robles has said the CNI issued a warning beforehand, while Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska has disputed that there was advance information predicting an entry on the scale that eventually took place.
Sánchez’s appearance will give MPs the opportunity to question him directly over the government’s response.
