King Felipe the Sixth has declared that Ceuta is an integral part of Spain, calling for unity between political leaders and public institutions following the mass arrival of migrants in July.

During his first visit to the city, alongside Queen Letizia, the King said those who entered irregularly should return to their countries of origin through legal channels.

He also stressed that migrants must be treated with dignity and respect for their legal rights while they remain in Ceuta.
Felipe called on European partners to share responsibility for protecting the EU’s external borders, and said Spain would not leave the city to face the situation alone.
The royal couple also visited Melilla as part of the historic trip.
