Intelligence report shows informal warning ahead of Ceuta crisis
Newly released intelligence documents show Spain’s CNI warned authorities in Ceuta the day before July’s mass migrant entry that people were being encouraged on social media to “storm” the city by land and sea.

A WhatsApp message sent on July twenty-ninth referred to a planned assault the following evening, coinciding with Morocco’s Throne Day celebrations.
The CNI said the groups promoting the action had around 180,000 followers.
More than seventy thousand migrants subsequently entered Ceuta.
The Government maintains that the message was not a formal intelligence alert and did not predict the scale or nature of what happened.
The disclosure has intensified political criticism over whether the authorities acted quickly enough on information they had received.
