Massive drug operation smashed by police with 65 arrests
Policia Nacional and the Mossos d’Esquadra have closed one of the largest criminal gangs in Spain, who was growing, distributing and selling canabis across Europe.
65 people were detained in raids on warehouses in Barcelona, Tarragona, Oviedo, Gijón and Bilbao, along with private residences in Portugal and the Netherlands.
40,000 marijuana plants were confiscated from 13 indoor plantations which had a street value of over €6 million.
Officers said that the warehouses were illegally connected to mains electricty, and were using more power than over 1,150 homes.
Further crimes including kidnapping and involvement in organised criminal activities are currently being investigated by Policia.
