Four dead after being struck by train in Barcelona

Four people, three women and one man, aged between nineteen and twenty-two, have been killed after being struck by a train on the Rodalies R3 line near to the Barcelona suburb of Montmeló.

Officials said that the group were killed whilst attempting to access a music festival.

The group crossed the tracks at an unauthorized point, and in poor visibility, with the train being unable to avoid hitting the four.

Three other individuals were treated for shock and were taken to a hospital in Mollet.

There were no reported injuries among the approximately one hundred seventy passengers on the train.
