Tenerife to declare water alert

In Tenerife, officials are set to declare a water emergency tomorrow as the island grapples with severe water scarcity.

The move comes after one of the driest winters in history, with reservoirs running low and forecasts of ongoing drought.

Reservoir levels have significantly dropped, currently at approximately 34.6 percent capacity versus 52 percent the previous year.

This January, the island recorded an average temperature of 20.9 degrees Celsius, marking it as the warmest January Tenerife has seen in 60 years.
