Historic Sighting of the Black Devil Fish Near Tenerife
Marine biologists have recorded a historic sighting of a black devil fish just two kilometres off the coast of Tenerife.
This discovery by non-governmental organisation Condrik could be the first account of a live specimen at such shallow depths.
The fish – which poses no threat to humans – was found to be a female measuring about twenty centimetres long, and is typically found at depths of up to four thousand metres.
