Number of hotel stays in Canaries falls after Thomas Cook collapse

The number of overnight stays in hotels in the Canaries during September fell by 3.6% compared to last year according to data released this week.

The National Statistics Agency reported the drop in visitor numbers during their latest report. The figures come at the same time as the collapse of Thomas Cook.

Nationwide, the number of overnight stays also fell by 0.6% on average, meaning 37.5 million people holidayed in Spain last month.
