Nine Crew Members Detained After Cocaine Interception near Canary Islands

Policia Nacional have detained nine crew members of a merchant vessel intercepted about six hundred miles from the Canary Islands.

The ship, sailing under the Tanzanian flag, was carrying four thousand kilos of cocaine.

Investigations began earlier this month following a tip-off from the United States Drug Enforcement Agency.

This operation marks one of the largest drug trafficking disruptions in recent years.
