La Palma welcomes guides to volcano

Hikers looking for a walk of a different kind are being invited to the Canary Islands to witness first hand the destructive force of a volcano.

Official guided tours have begun on the Cumbre Vieja volcano, which will allow people to see up close the damage caused by last years eruption on the island of La Palma.

The tours are organised by the Cabildo, with the site still under stringent controls. The walks are also closely monitored to ensure participant safety.
