Three migrants die crossing between Africa and Fuerteventura
Three people have died, and 42 were rescued after attempting to cross to the Canary Islands from Africa.
Coast guards were alerted to the small vessel around seven kilometres off the coast of Fuerteventura, near to Gran Tarajal.
Those on board – understood to include women and children – were taken to a reception centre on the island where any application for refuge will be process, or they will be returned to Africa.
In total 7 boats carrying 184 people were located trying to cross to the archipelago over the weekend.
