Search Continues for Migrants Lost at Sea Near El Hierro
Hopes are fading for the lives of 48 missing people whose boat capsized near to El Hierro.
Nineteen bodies – including one child – were pulled from the water, along with 27 survivors after the vessel was inundated in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Poor weather conditions have complicated rescue efforts, with three patrol boats and three helicopters engaged in the operation.
In total, 84 migrants were on board the boat when it sank, with officials fearing this could be the largest singular loss of life on a migrant vessel in over 30-years.
