Earthquake detected off Canarian coast

A moderate strength earthquake has been reported off of the coast of the Canaries.

The 5.7 magnitude quake was reported yesterday afternoon just after 1pm west of El Hierro.

Despite the epicentre being 54 km deep, and over 200 km out to sea, a number of people reported feeling the quake, though no damage was reported.

Authorities have said that there is no reason for concern, and the quake is well within normal parameters.
