Ash cloud from Saint Vincent volcano to pass over Canaries
Meteorological agency Aemet has said it is monitoring an ash cloud from the Caribbean island of Saint Vincent which is expected to pass over the Canaries over the next few days.
A number of eruptions of the La Soufriere volcano has taken place over the last week, covering the island of Saint Vincent in ash, with Barbados also reporting dust from the event.
Researchers from the European Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service have issued information suggesting the ash cloud, which contains sulphur dioxide, will pass over the islands today before swinging northwards towards the Iberian peninsular.
The cloud is being monitored but is not expected to cause any issues for the islands.
