Boost as Spain plans to open to tourists from June
Tourism minister Fernando Valdes Verelst has said that he expects to see the tourism sector start to open up from June under the EU’s Covid vaccine certificate plan.
During the World Travel & Tourism Council global summit in Mexico, the minister said that he expects visitors to the country to return in just over a months time, following a pilot trial of digital health certificates at all 46 Spanish airports in May.
The EU’s Digital Green Certificate will allow travellers to prove their health status either through vaccination, negative test results or recovery certification.
In his speech, he said that the Spanish governement had been planning for vaccine certification since February, due to the sectors importance on the national economy.
