Bank of Spain Assesses Five Million Euros in Burnt Banknotes

The Bank of Spain has announced that it can recover cash that has been burnt in the recent wildfires.

The bank made the statement following a rapid rise in enquiries regarding what to do with damaged banknotes.

Damaged notes can be exchanged only if the damage isn’t intentional.

Notes showing more than fifty per cent of their surface can be exchanged for new ones.

However, if the majority of the note is destroyed, evidence of the fire from authorities like the fire brigade or police must be provided.
