Irishman shot dead in mistaken identity murder
An Irishman who was shot dead on Wednesday in Majorca is believed to have been killed in a case of mistaken identity in a gang-related attack, which is understood to be linked to a Dublin based feud.
Trevor O’Neill, who had no connection to any of the gangland activities, had travelled to the island on Saturday with his partner and three children for a holiday to celebrate his 42nd birthday.
He was shot outside a supermarket in Costa de la Calma. Efforts to save Mr O’Neill at the scene failed and a murder investigation has now been launched.
Police are said to be searching for up to three suspects.
