Attorney General Faces Trial Over Leak Allegations

Spain’s Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, has gone on trial over allegations of leaking confidential information.

García Ortiz is accused of leaking an email related to a tax fraud investigation relating to the partner of the regional president of Madrid.

The case is seen as potentially risky for the Prime Minister, following statements of public support from Pedro Sanchez and the Government.

Mr Ortiz denies the charges in full.

The trial is expected to conclude next week.
