Spain to send six Leopard tanks to Ukraine

Defence minister Margarita Robles has confirmed that Spain will send six Leopard tanks to Ukraine.

In an update to the Congress of Deputies, she confirmed that the battle tanks are currently being repaired and should be ready for transportation in the next 8 to 12 weeks.

She also said that should more tanks be required, they could be provided if requested by NATO allies.

To date 54 shipments of military aid has been sent to Ukraine – 42 by air, 9 by and and 3 by sea.

Alongside military hardware, non-lethal military equipment such as helmets and bulletproof jackets have also been provided to troops fighting the Russian invasion.
