New sea temperature monitoring system launched
Spain has launched a new system to monitor sea temperatures in real time as part of efforts to improve understanding of climate change and its impact on the country’s coastline.
The Ministry of Transport says the network will provide continuous data to support weather forecasting, monitor marine heatwaves and strengthen scientific research into changing sea conditions.
Officials say the information will also improve maritime safety and help public authorities respond more effectively to the effects of a warming climate.
