Madrid Court Schedules Hearing on Appointment of Government Advisor
A court in Madrid has scheduled a hearing for the 14th May regarding the appointment of Cristina Álvarez as advisor to prime minister Pedro Sanchez’s wife – Begoña Gómez.
The investigation focuses on possible misconduct, including the misuse of public funds and allegations of influence trafficking and corruption.
However Félix Bolaños, the Prime Minister chief of staff, has said that the appointment complied with legal hiring standards.
Judge Juan Carlos Peinado will interrogate key witnesses, including Alfredo González and Raúl Díaz Silva.
Ms. Gómez and Ms. Álvarez denies any wrongdoing.
