Wildfires brought under control as onlookers slammed by authorities

Valencian firefighters are still tackling the first major wildfire of the year, as thousands of acres of land has been consumed by the blaze.

Over 4,000 hectares of land has been destroyed, and 1,700 people have been evacuated from their homes.

Yesterday it was confirmed that the blaze had been brought under control.

Meanwhile officials have slammed onloookers who have traveled to watch the fire, in doing so putting themselves at risk whilst obstructing efforts to bring the fire under control.

14 cyclists were spotted by police trying to gain access to a vantage point to view the fire at the weekend.

Over 500 firefighters, along with 20 planes and helicopters are involved in tackling the fire, which first broke out near to Villanueva de Viver in the Valencia region.
