Taxi drivers call wildcat strikes nationwide over Uber and other services
Hundreds of taxi drivers in Barcelona and Madrid have said that they intent to carry on their industrial action over private driver services such as Uber.
Last week protests were held across the country with some cases of violence reported. Taxi drivers staged stoppages on some major routes around the area, including the city centre and towards the airports.
At the weekend, taxi drivers in Madrid announced a “spontaneous” and indefinite strike, calling for restrictions on the number of licences granted to private operators.
Other wildcat strikes have been reported in locations across the country.
