Congress to Decide on José Luis Ábalos’ Parliamentary Immunity
The Congress of Deputies will decide whether to grant parliamentary immunity to former minister José Luis Ábalos.
This decision follows the Supreme Court’s indication that there are indications of possible criminal conduct against Ábalos, who is currently facing allegations related to the Koldo case.
The request aims to lift his immunity so that he may face trial.
PSOE is expected to support the request, with a decision anticipated in February.
The Spanish parliament has sixty days to respond or the request will be automatically rejected – however sources within parliament have indicated that there will be no delays in processing the request.
