Series of investigations launched into PPE supplies during Covid-19
Four years following the declaration of the first state of alarm in March 2020, the management of mask contracts during the COVID-19 pandemic remains under scrutiny by at least five Spanish courts.
Investigations are focusing on alleged irregular contract awards, crimes against the public treasury by entrepreneurs, and acts against workers. The Audencia Nacional, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, and several local courts in Madrid and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria are examining the cases.
Other separate inquiries include potential crimes against the public treasury in the Canary Islands and investigations into defective masks distributed by the Ministry of Health.
