The Supreme Court has approved the exhumation of the former dictator Francisco Franco, in a unanimous decision announced yesterday.

Franco’s remains currently repose at the Valle de los Caidos, however a government policy was enacted to remove his remains and move them to El Pardo Mingorrubio cemetery, so that the location can be used as a memorial to all victims of the Spanish Civil War.
The family of the dictator, who died in 1975, have said they will be launching an appeal.
