Eclipse passed without any major disruption
The government says Wednesday’s total solar eclipse passed off normally across Spain, despite exceptionally large crowds and a major increase in journeys to viewing locations.
The Ministry of Territorial Policy says public services maintained their operational capacity, including in the busiest coastal areas, viewpoints and elevated locations.
There were some minor incidents, including temporary traffic restrictions, evacuations in mountain areas and isolated medical emergencies.
A fire at Linares de Liencres in Cantabria was quickly extinguished, while emergency services also dealt with two boat fires in the Balearic Islands.
The government praised the public for following safety instructions and helping ensure the event passed without significant incidents.
