Aemet issues solar eclipse weather forecast

AEMET says generally stable weather is expected across much of Spain for Wednesday’s total solar eclipse, with mostly clear skies in many areas.

However, cloud could affect viewing in parts of the Cantabrian coast, Galicia, Alborán and eastern Spain, with some afternoon cloud also developing over northern mountains and eastern Andalusia.

Temperatures are expected to exceed 35 degrees Celsius across much of inland Spain, and could rise above 40 degrees in the Guadalquivir valley.

AEMET is also warning of a very high or extreme wildfire risk across much of mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands on eclipse day, and is urging people to take particular care when visiting rural or mountainous areas.
