Red weather alert for heat issued for Alicante and Valencia

AEMET has issued a red alert for extreme heat in parts of the Valencian Community tomorrow.

Temperatures could reach 44 degrees Celsius, with the highest temperatures expected along the coast of Valencia and northern Alicante.

The warning represents an extraordinary danger to health, while the combination of extreme heat, dry conditions and wind is also increasing the risk of wildfires.

Authorities are advising people to avoid strenuous activity and direct exposure to the sun during the hottest part of the day, and to take particular care of vulnerable people.
