Deadline looms for triggering of General Election

The Royal Decree calling for the next General Election is due to be published tonight at midnight – the deadline for PSOE leader Pedro Sanchez to have won an investiture vote.

Political parties all ramped up their pre-election campaigning over the weekend, with parties gearing up for the next 47-days leading to the vote on the 10th November.

The formal election campaign will begin on the 1st November, lasting eight days until midnight on Friday 8th November. Spain will then return to the ballot box on Sunday 10th November.
