Koldo corruption trial begins
The first day of the trial involving former minister José Luis Ábalos, his former adviser Koldo García and businessman Víctor de Aldama has focused on the alleged irregularities in the awarding of pandemic‑era mask contracts.
Prosecutors outlined what they say was a network that used political influence to secure public contracts worth millions, while the defence argued that the purchases took place in an emergency context and followed legal procedures.
The court heard initial witness statements and procedural issues, setting the tone for what is expected to be a lengthy and politically sensitive trial.
All three defendants maintain their innocence
