Nursing crisis looms as nearly half consider leaving post

Almost half of all nurses in Spain are considering leaving the profession – according to a survey by the General Nursing Council.

In their research published this week, the council went on to say that 52% of those in nursing have seen their mental health affected by the coronavirus pandemic. with six out of ten suffering insomnia and two thirds showing signs of anxiety.

Intensive Care, emergency Care, Primary Care and Social Health are the main areas where staff felt the most affected.

19,300 nurses across the country were surveyed in the first weeks of January.
