Diana Quer murder trial to begin in A Coruña

The trial of the man accused of killing 18-year-old Diana Quer – José Enrique Abuín Gey, aka ‘El Chicle’ – will start today after being delayed by nearly a fortnight.

Jurors involved in the case resigned before the start of proceedings, causing a new jury to be selected and sworn in at the court in A Coruña.

The young woman went missing in August 2016. Her remains were discovered hidden in a well after the accused was questioned and charged over her disappearance.

The trial is expected to last until the end of the month.
