Man tests negative for Marburg disease

Health authorities in the Valencian region have confirmed that a man who was suspected of having the deadly Marburg disease has tested negative on Saturday and does not have the virus.

Officials undertook a series of tests on a 34-year-old man who had recently been in Equatorial Guinea.

He – alongside three medical staff who had been treating him – were placed into quarantine whilst authorities were awaiting the results.

Recently Equatorial Guinea imposed movement restrictions in part of the country following a number of deaths from the Ebola related disease.
