Hundreds evacuated after latest torrential rains hit Murcia

Hundreds of people have been evacuated from their homes following on from the low pressure storm across the east coast of the mainland.

Over 100 litres of rain per square metre fell yesterday across parts of the region, causing major disruption due to flooding. Murcia is reported to have bore the brunt of the storm, with dozens of people being rescued from their vehicles after getting stuck in flood waters.

Amber weather warnings remain in place from meteorological agency Aemet for today and in places tomorrow, with advisory notices being issued for torrential rain, rough seas and strong winds.

The low pressure front is due to move northwards by Thursday.
