Continued Search for Missing Man in Valencia

Guardia Civil are continuing their search for missing 65-year-old Francisco Ruiz, who is believed to have been swept away in flooding on the Júcar River.

Francisco Ruiz was swept away by floodwaters in Montserrat while attempting to save his grandchildren, managing to get them to safety before disappearing.

Guardia Civil’s Special Underwater Activities Group is combing a two thousand metre area in Valencia, after previous searches overlooked deeper sections of the river.

Despite being declared dead legally, efforts to recover his body continue.
