One dead as torrential rains lash eastern Spain
Storm Adam has claimed the life of a woman in Catalonia, after she was swept away by floodwater in Cabrera de Mar, near Barcelona.
Her body was found at sea on Sunday morning, around six kilometres from where she disappeared.
She had been walking near a stream with her husband and two children when the fast-flowing water carried her away.
The torrential rain caused widespread disruption across eastern Spain, with emergency services responding to flooding, stranded vehicles and flooded buildings.
Red weather warnings were issued for Valencia and northern Alicante, where forecasters warned that more than 300 litres of rain per square metre could fall in 24 hours in some areas.
Authorities urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from rivers, ravines and other areas vulnerable to flash flooding.
