23 arrested in football match fixing probe
23 people have been arrested in connection to a football match fixing group in raids carried out across Spain.
Officers conducted searches in properties located in Badajoz, Cádiz, Ciudad Real, Córdoba, Tenerife and Ceuta as part of an investigation into an organised crime gang who were placing bets on rigged football matches.
Investigators believe some of the gang were netting tens of thousands of euros in winning for each thrown match they bet on.
It’s understood the gang had connections with players in a number of leagues including RFEF, the Gibraltar National League, and the Andorra League.
Around 30 matches are currently under investigation, and more arrests have not been ruled out.
