La Palma exclusion zone reduced
The maritime exclusion zone – set up in the wake of the Cumbre Vieja volcanic eruption – has been reduced in size as the island starts to return to normality.

Initally a two nautical mile exclusion zone was in place near to where the volcanic deltas were located, however that has now been reduced to half a nautical mile.
However the temperature of the new land masses is still too dangerous for people to approach, so some restrictions remain.
It is hoped that fishing activity in the area will resume shortly, following a survey by the Spanish Institute of Oceanography.
