Birth rate in Spain continues to fall, as does population

The number of births in Spain has continued to fall, according to the latest data from the National Statistics Agency, the INE.

Over the last decade, births have fallen by 29%, with last year showing another fall in the total Spanish population.

Last year, 369,302 children were born in the country, compared to about 520,000 a decade ago. The data also shows the average age of motherhood is rising, as is the number of mothers giving birth over the age of 40.
