Policía Nacional detains alleged leader of jihadist cell in Palma
Policía Nacional has arrested the alleged leader of a jihadist cell in Palma.
The man had been living in a shared flat for the past two months and was flown to Madrid to appear before the Audiencia Nacional in a sealed case.
Two other members of the same organisation were detained in Tangier.
Investigators say the Palma suspect was preparing a large‑scale lone‑wolf attack in Spain, while the detainees in Morocco were providing support to Daesh fighters in the Sahel and Somalia.
Police say the group had been active online and had expressed an intention to travel to a conflict zone.
