Thousands of people spent saturday night trapped in their cars after heavy snow forced a motorway to close in Castilla y León.
Over 3000 vehicles were stranded in the snowfall near to Segovia on the AP-6 for over 18 hours. There was also closures on the A-1 and the AP-68.
240 military staff as well as hundreds of Guardia Civil were called to help those stranded and to reopen the roads.
The heavy snow left people stranded, and having to spend the night in emergency shelters.
At one stage over the weekend, half of the country was on alert for bad weather, including snow, rain, high seas and strong winds.
