Malaga-Costa del Sol airport officially breaks records for 2016

Official airport passenger numbers have been released for Málaga-Costa del Sol showing a record-breaking 16.4% increase in passenger numbers to the region compared to 2015, meaning over 16 million people passed through the airport last year.

December figures also saw a significant rise in footfall, with an increase of 21% compared to the year before.

Routes from the United States, Canada as well as Portugal and central and eastern Europe also contributed to the increase in passengers. The UK remained the number one point of origin though, with nearly 5.5 million passengers from the UK passing through.
